Whether you fancy the buzz of Tokyo or the tranquility of countryside, Japan caters to all. Experience diverse cultures, breathtaking scenery, and outdoor sports. Why settle for a short trip when you can savor Japan's wonders over a longer stay? Discover the charm of urban excitement and rural serenity.
If you're planning a long-term stay with young children, opting for a countryside base is advisable. Urban areas like Tokyo can be bustling and hectic, with expensive rent and limited living space. Families can relish the tranquility of renting a spacious house with a yard in the countryside, while still having the option to visit Tokyo for entertainment.
At Yoichi Holiday, we can also connect you with diverse local community groups and resources. Imagine becoming familiar with local shops and people, perhaps chatting along with them in simple Japanese by the end of your stay!
As your host, I personally split my time between the vibrant city of Tokyo and the serene landscapes of Hokkaido. It's a lifestyle that perfectly blends the excitement of urban living with the tranquility of nature. I've experienced the best of both worlds, and I'm here to convince you to do the same!
Japan's climate varies greatly from north to south. Here's a detailed overview of each season:
Summer (July to September)
In urban areas south of Tokyo, temperatures often exceed 30°C with high humidity, making outdoor activities challenging. Many people opt to stay indoors with air conditioning. However, Hokkaido and mountainous regions offer cooler temperatures and lower humidity, making them popular destinations for summer getaways. Notably, July and September are less crowded, making it easier to secure accommodations and transportation at more affordable prices.
Autumn (October to November)
Autumn is a comfortable season throughout Japan. It's a time when fruits, autumn vegetables, and rice are harvested, offering a variety of delicious seasonal foods. Popular tourist spots like Kyoto may experience heavy crowds due to autumn leaves viewing, but lesser-known rural areas offer equally stunning foliage without the crowds.
Winter (December to February)
During winter, Tokyo and its surrounding areas experience a mild and pleasant climate, with little rain and comfortable temperatures suitable for outdoor activities such as walking and jogging. On the other hand, Hokkaido and mountainous areas are perfect for snow sports enthusiasts, offering excellent skiing conditions. For those not interested in skiing, winter stays in Hokkaido and mountainous regions may be challenging due to snow and cold temperatures. However, visitors can still enjoy snow experiences by basing themselves in snow-free areas and taking short trips to Hokkaido. It's worth noting that around December 25 to January 5, transportation and tourist destinations tend to be crowded due to the New Year holidays.
Spring (March to June)
Spring brings the much-anticipated cherry blossom season, with flowers blooming gradually from mid-March to late April, starting from the southern regions and moving northward. It's difficult to plan trips around the cherry blossom season due to its unpredictable nature, but those staying for extended periods during this time have a good chance of encountering cherry blossoms. Additionally, from June onwards, southern Honshu experiences the rainy season, with high humidity and rainfall expected.
